Write Intuition

Ready for a dust-up?

You bring the words, I have the polish. I trust your expertise, respect your voice, and follow your intuitive lead about the ideas you want to convey. My goal is to help you deliver content that’s accurate, clear, compelling, and comprehensive. I want to connect you with your intended audiences. Think of me as your content and copy editor, clarity coach, proofreader, and creativity cheerleader.

*The definition of dust-up is a fight or quarrel. Rest assured that’s not what I’m aiming for! This is a play on words to remind you we can have fun while we’re being serious with words.

While I’m busy with freelance projects, I’m pursuing a nomad lifestyle and sharing some of my experiences. Enjoy!

Experience

DIGital Content Editing & Website Development

For 12 years, I worked full-time at a liberal arts college editing content and helping design websites. I was part of the web team that educated users on style, branding, tone, usability, accessibility, and analytics.

Research & Reporting

I was a reporter and writer for several newspapers, covering town news, schools, planning commissions, and everything from pasta sauce to ski area management. I also did a stint as a restaurant reviewer.

Food Writing & Cookbooks

For seven years, I worked at a literary agency that specializes in cookbooks. I edited and helped develop nonfiction book proposals, wrote pitch letters, observed media trainings, and reviewed submissions.

Book Manuscripts & MESSAGING

I have helped authors at the book development and manuscript stages with copy editing and proofreading, as well as crafting marketing strategies for a book launch to maximize key message points.

Technology & Business

I started my career working on technology trade journals. It taught me how to ask questions to dig deeper and explain complex topics in clear language. I regularly copy edit reports for a research consulting firm.

magazineS

I have worked on several magazines, sharpening my knowledge of creating editorial calendars, working with art and production teams, managing writers, and networking with industry professionals to research ideas and access expertise.

When we read well, we are thinking hard for ourselves—this is the essence of freedom. It is also the essence of editing. Editors are scribes liberated to not simply record and disseminate information, but think hard about it, interpret, and ultimately, influence it.
